Description

Runaways fanart, HO. If you're not reading this series, you should be very, very ashamed of yourself. You're missing out on some top class writing and art.

I've had this picture in my head since Karolina first went off-world, ohhh...a year ago? It just strikes me that she was dropped headfirst into not one, but TWO cultures she was completely ignorant of. On top of that, the Majesdanian mode of dress (which I think is BRILLIANT. I love that it's so stark, since the people themselves provide the colorful ornamentation) must call up painful and unpleasant memories of her parents. If I were in her situation, I know I'd be less than thrilled about dressing like them, for lack of any other options. More and more, the Pride's legacy is becoming an issue for the Runaways; poor K just had her face shoved in it earlier than Chase or Victor.

I also imagine that it must have been a BITCH to get the Majesdanian faction to accept her as any sort of leader, what with her parents being the ones who SOLD THEM OUT, and all...I would do all kinds of fanart if anyone ever wrote that fic (not that I've ever read Runaways fanfic, because I fear fandoms, but I would if someone pointed me towards a story along these lines).

On a technical note, I'd like to declare this attempt at coloring her trippy lights a RESOUNDING SUCCESS! It's still not quite what Christina Strain is doing...it's closer to her coloring during the Victor arc than what she's doing now. I wish she'd stop changing up her style, so that I can find one method and stick to it! She was working predominately in pastels at the beginning of Season Two, and has moved on to jazzier, brighter jewel tones in the current arc. I need to push my color choices further. I will nail you one day, Strain!

Regardless of that, the actual lights turned out better than I'd hoped; I honestly think that Christina Strain just abuses the fuck out of her dodge tool. That's all I really did. Time consuming, but rather pretty in the end. Of course, if there's a shortcut, I'd love to hear it...

Reflecting the light on her clothes was a stone bitch. Do you have any idea how hard it is to figure out shadows when the light source is coming from EVERY CONCEIVEABLE DIRECTION? Stone bitch.

But I am so pleased with myself.
